Aru is a quieter shepherds' valley about 12 km upriver from Pahalgam and the trailhead for treks to Lidderwat and the Kolahoi Glacier. Chandanwari is the starting point of the Amarnath Yatra, with snow bridges over the Lidder well into summer.

Betaab, Aru and Chandanwari are served by local Pahalgam union cabs that work from fixed points at fixed rates - not by the taxi that brought you from Srinagar. Plan a full day to see all three.
