Sunset from the shikara is the single most photographed moment in Kashmir - arrive at the lake by 5:30pm. Dinner at Boulevard Road or onboard if staying on a houseboat.

Day 2~35km within city

Srinagar Sightseeing

Return to Srinagar by 6pm. Tip: carry a jacket regardless of season - temperatures at Kongdori stay below 12°C year-round.

Tip: Gondola tickets are sold at the counter only - no advance booking. Arrive by 9am on weekdays, 8am on weekends.

Day 495km via NH44, 2.5 hours

Srinagar to Pahalgam - Overnight

Pahalgam - Baisaran Meadows

Afternoon: trout fishing at Lidder River (rods available for hire from local operators, ₹300/hour), or leisure in the town bazaar. Evening: bonfire arrangements available through ViaKashmir.

Tip: Aru Valley (12km from Pahalgam) is a quieter alternative if Baisaran feels crowded in peak season.

Sonamarg Day Trip

Early departure from Pahalgam via Srinagar to Sonamarg. Thajiwas Glacier by pony from Sonamarg town - ₹300-400 one way, or walk it in 45 minutes if fit. Sonamarg means Meadow of Gold - the valley floor in summer is exactly that. Return to Srinagar by evening.

7-Day Kashmir Trip - FAQs

Is 7 days enough for Kashmir?

Yes, 7 nights is ideal for a complete Kashmir trip - Srinagar, Gulmarg, Pahalgam, and Sonamarg without rushing. If you only have 5 nights, skip Sonamarg and extend your time in Srinagar or Pahalgam.

What is the best month for a 7-day Kashmir trip?

April to June and September to October. April-May gives you tulip bloom and snow at Gulmarg simultaneously. September-October offers clear skies, golden chinar trees, and fewer crowds than summer.

What is the estimated cost for a 7-day Kashmir trip?

A 7-day Kashmir trip for 2 people costs approximately ₹28,000-₹45,000 total, covering hotel accommodation, one houseboat night, all private cab transport, Gulmarg Gondola, and a Dal Lake shikara. ViaKashmir's 7-night package starts at ₹14,999 per person.

Do I need to book Gulmarg Gondola in advance?

Gondola tickets cannot be pre-booked online - sold at the counter on the day. Arrive by 8-9am to avoid queues, especially in May-June. Phase 1 (Kongdori) is ₹840/person. Phase 2 (Apharwat Peak) is an additional ₹980/person.
