Quick Answer
A standard Kashmir tour package covers your hotels or houseboat, a private cab with driver for every transfer and sightseeing day, Srinagar airport or station pickup and drop, and usually breakfast and dinner. Flights, lunch, travel insurance, gondola and entry tickets, and pony or local union taxi rides are normally extra. Via Kashmir has 72 live Kashmir packages from ₹8,999 per person; each lists its own inclusions, price with taxes, and cancellation table before you pay.
Most confusion about Kashmir packages comes from one thing: two packages at the same headline price can include very different things. One covers the gondola and the houseboat night, the other leaves both for you to pay on the spot. This page explains what is normally in and out of a Kashmir package, using the inclusions and exclusions of every package we sell today, and how payment, refunds and support work once you book.
Via Kashmir is a travel company based in Srinagar. The shares quoted below ("X of our Y packages") are counted from our live package listings and update automatically when packages change.
What is included in a Kashmir tour package?
Across our current Kashmir packages, this is what the price covers:
| Item | Included on |

| Private cab with driver for all transfers and sightseeing | 68 of 72 |
| Srinagar airport or railway station pickup and drop | 72 of 72 |
| Daily breakfast and dinner (MAP) | 67 of 72 |

Counted from our live Kashmir packages; updates hourly.
Each package page lists its own inclusions word for word under "What's included", and the checkout page shows the fare breakup (base cost, any discount, taxes and fees) as one total before you pay.
What is not included in a Kashmir budget package?
- Flights or train fare to Srinagar (listed as excluded on 72 of our 72 packages). We can add flights to a quote on request.
- Travel insurance (excluded on 69 of our 72). We do not sell insurance.
- Lunch (excluded on 72 of our 72). Most packages include breakfast and dinner at the hotel.
- Entry fees and gondola tickets beyond what the package names. Gardens, monuments and Gondola Phase 2 are paid on the spot.
- Pony rides, ATVs, sledges and snow gear, paid directly to the local operator.
- Pahalgam union taxis to Betaab Valley, Aru and Chandanwari. Private cabs from outside are not allowed on these roads; the local taxi union runs them at fixed rates, paid directly. Sonamarg works the same way for the ride to Thajiwas Glacier.
Why cheap packages look cheap
A very low package price often leaves out dinner, the gondola, the houseboat night or the airport transfer. Compare inclusions line by line, not just the headline price.
Are local guides and sightseeing entry fees included?
A separate licensed tour guide is not part of our standard packages. Your driver is local, knows the route and the sights, and drives you to each one; at most stops (Mughal Gardens, Dal Lake, Gulmarg meadow) you walk around on your own. If you want a guide for a heritage walk in old Srinagar or a trek, ask when you enquire.
Entry fees to gardens and monuments are normally paid on the spot and are not in the package price. Gulmarg Gondola Phase 1 tickets are included on 25 of our 72 packages; Phase 2 is almost always extra. Gondola tickets are best booked online in advance in peak season.
How do I pay for a Kashmir tour package?
- 1Book online: choose dates and travellers on the package page. The checkout shows the full fare breakup and the cancellation table, and you pay the full amount online by UPI, debit or credit card or net banking through Razorpay.
- 2Custom quote: if you ask us to change hotels, add flights or build a trip from scratch, we send an itemised quote. Once you confirm, you get a private trip page with a written payment schedule (each amount and its due date), and a receipt for every payment you make.
Pay only through the checkout or the payment details on your own trip page, to the company account, never to a personal account.
What is the cancellation and refund policy?
Every package shows its cancellation table on the package page and again at checkout, before you pay. 9 of our 72 Kashmir packages carry their own table; the rest use our standard tiers:
| If you cancel | Refund |
|---|---|
| 7 days or more before travel | 100% refund |
| 2 to 6 days before travel | 50% refund, minus ₹99 processing |
| 24 hours to 2 days before travel | 25% refund, minus ₹99 processing |
| Under 24 hours, or no-show | No refund |
- Full refund regardless of notice (with documents): natural disasters affecting the route, official advisories restricting travel to Jammu and Kashmir, hospitalisation of the primary booker, death in the immediate family, or a property unable to honour the booking.
- Changing dates: a booking can be modified up to 48 hours before travel through the Support Centre or WhatsApp, subject to availability and any rate difference.
- Refund time: UPI within 24 hours, net banking 3 to 5 business days, cards 5 to 7 business days, always to the original payment method.
GST paid on a booking is non-refundable as it is remitted to the government. Full terms: cancellation policy.
How does transport work inside Kashmir?
| Option | Used on | Good for |
|---|---|---|
| Private sedan (Dzire, Etios) | Couple and small-family packages | 2 to 4 travellers with normal luggage |
| Private SUV (Ertiga, Innova, Innova Crysta) | Most packages | Families of 4 to 6, more luggage, hill roads |
| Shared Tempo Traveller | Fixed-date group departures | Solo travellers and groups sharing one vehicle |
| Pahalgam and Sonamarg union taxis | Aru, Betaab, Chandanwari, Thajiwas | Required by local rules, paid on the spot |
You reach Srinagar by flight (nonstop from Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru and several other cities) or by the Vande Bharat train from Katra or Jammu. The package starts at Srinagar airport or railway station, where the driver meets you.
How much baggage can I bring?
- Flights: the airline's own limits apply; domestic economy check-in is usually 15 kg. Srinagar airport has an extra security check at the entrance, so reach early on the way home.
- In the cab: a sedan takes 3 to 4 travellers with a suitcase each; for larger suitcases or 5 or more people, choose an SUV. Tell us your bag count when booking and we size the car.
- Houseboats: many are reached by a short shikara crossing, so a soft bag or medium suitcase per person is easier than very large cases.
What support do I get after booking?
- A booking confirmation by email, and your booking in My Account or on the track booking page.
- For custom trips, a private trip page with your itinerary, vouchers, invoice and receipts in one place.
- Our Srinagar team on WhatsApp and phone at +91 91860 51499, every day 9am to 9pm IST, and WhatsApp support 24/7 while you are on the trip.
Because we are based in Srinagar, changes caused by snow, road closures or flight delays are handled by the same team that planned the trip.
Is travel insurance or medical assistance included?
No. Travel insurance is excluded on 69 of our 72 packages and we do not sell it, so buy a policy from an IRDAI-registered insurer before you travel. Check that it covers any activity you plan, such as skiing, Gondola Phase 2 or trekking, because many policies exclude them.
Medical costs are not part of any package. In an emergency in India dial 112. Srinagar has the main hospitals; Gulmarg, Pahalgam and Sonamarg have smaller government health centres. Gulmarg is at about 2,650 m and Gondola Phase 2 reaches about 3,980 m, so travellers with heart or lung conditions should check with a doctor first. Carry your regular medicines for the whole trip.
How do I give feedback or raise a complaint?
- During the trip: WhatsApp or call +91 91860 51499, so we can fix it while you are still there.
- After the trip: the review link we send by email, or a Google review.
- Formally: a ticket in the Support Centre (My Account) or email contact@viakashmir.in. Refund disputes can be raised within 30 days of cancellation; we aim to resolve them within 5 business days.
What should I pack for a Kashmir package trip?
| Months | Pack |
|---|---|
| April to June | Light layers, a fleece or light jacket for evenings, sunscreen, walking shoes |
| July to September | Light clothes, a rain jacket, a warm layer for Gulmarg and Sonamarg |
| October to November | Warm jacket, thermals for nights, gloves |
| December to February | Heavy down jacket, thermals, waterproof boots with grip, woollen cap and gloves (snow boots and coats can be rented in Gulmarg) |
All year: a government photo ID for every adult (hotels and airport checks ask for it), your medicines, a power bank, and some cash for union taxis and small shops. Prepaid SIMs issued outside Jammu and Kashmir generally do not work in the region; postpaid connections do.
How to check a Kashmir tour operator before you pay
- 1Look up the company: a registered company has a CIN you can search on the Ministry of Corporate Affairs portal. Ours is listed on our Kashmir travel agency page.
- 2Ask for named hotels for every night, not "standard hotel or similar" with no name.
- 3Ask for the inclusions and exclusions in writing, and the cancellation table, before paying.
- 4Pay the company, never an individual's personal account.
- 5Read recent Google reviews and check where the team is based.

For an online package booking, yes: the full amount is paid at checkout. For a custom quote, you get a written payment schedule with the amount and due date of each instalment on your private trip page.
Can I cancel or change the dates of a Kashmir tour package?
Yes. The refund depends on how far ahead you cancel and is shown in the package's cancellation table before you pay; with our standard tiers it is 100% at 7 or more days before travel. Dates can be changed up to 48 hours before travel, subject to availability.
Are sightseeing entry fees and guides included in Kashmir packages?
Entry fees to gardens and monuments are usually paid on the spot. Some packages include Gulmarg Gondola Phase 1 tickets. A licensed guide is not included as standard; your driver is local and takes you to each sight.
Is travel insurance included in Kashmir tour packages?
No. Buy travel insurance separately from an IRDAI-registered insurer, and check it covers activities like skiing or trekking if you plan them.
What support do I get during the trip?
Our Srinagar team is on WhatsApp and phone at +91 91860 51499 from 9am to 9pm IST every day, with WhatsApp support 24/7 while you are travelling.
Why do I have to pay for taxis in Pahalgam if my package has a cab?
Local rules reserve the roads to Aru, Betaab Valley and Chandanwari for the Pahalgam taxi union. Your package cab takes you to Pahalgam; the union taxi for these side trips is paid on the spot at fixed rates.
Does my mobile SIM work in Kashmir?
Postpaid connections from anywhere in India work. Prepaid SIMs issued outside Jammu and Kashmir generally do not work in the region, so bring a postpaid number or get a local prepaid SIM with your ID.
