Quick Answer
Baba Reshi is the shrine of Baba Payam-ud-Din Reshi (1411 to 1480), a Sufi saint of Kashmir's Rishi tradition, at Ramboh village in Baramulla district, about 7,000 ft up in the forest between Tangmarg and Gulmarg. A side road leaves the Tangmarg-Gulmarg road and reaches the shrine in about 4 km; from Gulmarg it is about 5 to 6 km down by the direct road. There are only a few steps from the parking. Entry is free, and the shrine is open to visitors of all faiths.
Payam-ud-Din was the son of a nobleman at the court of Sultan Zain-ul-Abidin. He left court life to follow the Sufi path, trained under Baba Shukur-ud-Din and then under Zain-ud-Din Wali at Aishmuqam, and settled in the forest at Ramboh, where he lived in prayer until his death in 1480. The white and green shrine that stands there today was rebuilt after a fire gutted the old building on 2 September 1989.
