Overview

Drang, also spelt Drung, is a small village in Baramulla district about 3 km from Tangmarg, the town at the foot of the climb to Gulmarg. It is known for its waterfall, which tumbles down a rocky hillside in pine forest and freezes into columns of ice in the coldest part of winter, usually from late December to February. Most visitors see Drang as a short stop on a Srinagar to Gulmarg drive rather than as a destination of its own, and it adds an hour or two to the day.
