For a trip 30 or more days away you pay 30% to book, 30% fifteen days later and the rest 7 days before travel. For a trip 8 to 29 days away it is 65% now and the rest 7 days before; within 7 days of arrival, the full amount is due at booking. The instalments add up to the same total as paying at once. Flights at short notice
- ✓Delhi has the most nonstop flights to Srinagar, so it is the easiest place to find a seat at short notice.
- ✓Fares rise as the date gets closer; mid-week flights are usually cheaper than Fridays and Sundays.
- ✓If flights are full or costly, the train to Katra and the Vande Bharat to Srinagar (about 3 hours) is the alternative.

What to pack if you leave this week
From November to March: thermal layers, a padded jacket, gloves, a woollen cap and warm shoes; snow boots can be hired at Tangmarg on the way to Gulmarg. From April to October: light layers and one warm jacket for evenings. Carry a government photo ID; hotels ask for it at check-in.

What is included
Hotels on twin sharing, a private car and driver for the whole trip, airport pickup and drop, sightseeing by car and on most packages breakfast and dinner. Not included: flights, the gondola, the Pahalgam union taxi and pony rides. If a hotel in the package has no rooms on your dates, we offer the nearest hotel of the same level and show the price difference before you pay, so a late booking never means a surprise downgrade. Groups of 4 to 6 are usually as easy to place at short notice as couples outside peak weeks. Larger groups of 10 or more need a few more days, because hotels must hold several rooms together.
