Our 10-day itinerary combines Kashmir with Ladakh by design - two regions in one trip. This one is different: it stays entirely within the Kashmir Valley and uses the extra time for rest days and quieter destinations most week-long trips skip entirely - Doodhpathri and Yusmarg alongside the standard Gulmarg-Pahalgam-Sonamarg circuit.
Days 1-3: Srinagar, unhurried
Three full days in Srinagar rather than the usual one or two - the Mughal Gardens and Shankaracharya Temple on day 1, a full day for the old city bazaars and Hazratbal Shrine on day 2, and a genuinely free day 3 for a second shikara ride, the floating market at dawn, or simply resting before the rest of the trip.
Days 4-6: Gulmarg
Three nights in Gulmarg - the Gondola on day 4, a slower meadow walk on day 5, and a genuinely open day 6 rather than a packed activity schedule.
Day 7: Doodhpathri
A day trip to Doodhpathri, about 40 km from Srinagar - a quieter grassy meadow with a shallow stream. See our Doodhpathri guide.
Days 8-9: Pahalgam
Two nights covering Betaab Valley, Aru Valley and the Lidder riverside at a relaxed pace.
Days 10-11: Sonamarg
Sonamarg gets its own two-night stop here rather than being squeezed into a single day trip, as most shorter itineraries do - enough time for Thajiwas Glacier and a slower look at the valley without rushing back to Srinagar the same evening.

Days 13-14: Back to Srinagar, final day and departure
Return to Srinagar with a full extra day in hand before departure - a buffer day genuinely worth having on a trip this long, whether for a delayed flight, a second visit to a favourite spot, or last-minute shopping in the craft bazaars.
A 14-day trip compressed into a rushed, activity-packed schedule defeats the point of having the extra time. This itinerary deliberately builds in rest and buffer days rather than filling every one of the 14 days with sightseeing.
